Anywhere that accepts port-ins! Please check with the carrier of your choice before you unlock* your Sideline number. Wireless only carriers like Google Voice and Cricket typically cannot port in Sideline numbers. Please contact these carriers directly to see if they can provide coverage to your Sideline number.
Sideline does not control who can port in our numbers and the decision is up to the gaining carrier and their porting guidelines.
Please see our other article "What do I need to port my number out?" to makes sure you're ready to provide the correct information to the winning carrier.
NOTE: As a Voice over IP provider, Sideline's porting guidelines are the same as those for landlines, which means that a port request can take up to ten business days to complete. This is a normal time frame for such services. Please be aware that once your number is unlocked from our service, we are no longer involved in the port out process, and we will never place a hold or prevent the port out of your phone number.
More Details to Consider:
- Any errors that arise will need to be dealt with through the service you're taking your number to
- If the service you're transferring your number to does not accept the Sideline number because it is recognized as a landline, we would suggest an option of "parking" your phone number through another service, then porting the number from there
*To unlock the number, you'll just need the Account and PIN numbers found under the Number Porting section in your Settings. From there, selecting "Port-Out Number" will reveal your Account and PIN numbers.
